Question #669
When operating an overhead crane equipped with an electromagnetic lifting attachment:
Why?
The load's shape and any gaps between it and the electromagnetic lifting attachment (chwytnik elektromagnetyczny) determine how much of the magnetic flux is utilised, and therefore the holding force and the mass the crane can lift safely with that attachment. So the load's shape affects the crane's actual lifting capacity, although this can never exceed its rated capacity (udźwig znamionowy). A magnet does not replace overload protection, so the limits of both the attachment and the crane must be checked.
